Most of us have been there and heard the phrase ‘you spend money like water’. It can quite easily be started by such things as a work night out, a new baby in the family, a best friend getting married which can lead to the perilous road of continued spending. Unfortunately in many cases it is not until you recive the credit card or store card statement balance that you realise just how much you have spent.
Even then you may not realise just how much you have spent- particularly if you don't open the statements!
But what happens in other circumstances for example if you lose your job? Are made redundant? Or on long term sick? It is sometimes only then when the awful truth hits home. In the majority of cases many don't even consider themselves to be 'in debt' or having any debt problems. The truth of the matter is, if you have a loan of any kind, then you are in debt! And the interest you are paying on those debts is the money you have been working so hard to earn.
If your circumstances seem pretty bad at the moment, there are ways out of any debt troubles:
- Take control of the situation. Remember: If you have got yourself into a bit of debt it is not the end of the world. And you are defintely not the only one. The minute that you start taking responsibility again, you will start feeling better. Guaranteed!
- If seriously in debt, we can help you to contact your creditors before they contact you. Your debt problems will not go away if you ignore them- they will most definitely get worse. There is nothing more annoying to a creditor than someone who chooses to ignore the problem. If you recognise that you are getting into debt difficulties we will help you to talk to your creditors and will show you how.
People get into debt for a multiple number of reasons. There is that typical stigma of those in debt that they have overspent and lived beyond their means but we know from experience that there is always more to it than meets the eye. The cause is often everyday reasons like the result of a relationship break-down, the loss of a job, or a business failing to gambling and shopping addictions. The depression caused by some of these life changing events can make it even more difficult to ask for help or even to have the energy to deal with it.
Remember it truly is okay! Don't ignore the problem. The longer you delay, the longer it will take to sort out- and the harder it will be to deal with.
We help people get out of debt in the areas of England, Scotland and Wales.
